Oh deer

Dreams about deer were more frequent this week than they’ve been all year. Bucks bounded through our sleeping brains.

One dreamer spied them through the lens of a hunter’s rifle.

Another was hunted himself, fleeing through a forest from a looming black stag.

Other meetings were less confrontational.

We freed our depressed doe from traps, and tickled the paws of gentle kitten-like fawns.

I was outside a building with a deer in a cage. It looked really sad and the cage was small. The deer had big antlers that kept getting caught on the walls.

I climbed the fence, unlocked the deer from its cage, and nudged the fence to figure out how to get us both out.

The fence collapsed and the deer exited, now without its antlers. I watched him walk away.
