On the prowl
This week dreams about wolves were higher than usual. Their close cousins, foxes and coyotes, snuck in behind them.
Far from friendly, these animals stalked our nightmares. They savaged birds and lambs, pounced out from under beds, and snarled through windows.
Wild dogs were not the only ones hunting their prey. This week, lots of us dreamed of romantic pursuits too.
Nighttime visions of our love interests and crushes were more frequent than they’ve been since March.
I walk outside at night and see an angry grey wolf growling in the fog. When I return to the front porch, the wolf attacks me.
It bites my left hand, and I punch it in the mouth, but it won't let go. I use the storm door to hit the wolf, kick it, and scream, acting more macho than usual.
My mom's boyfriend walks up, doesn't seem to care, and I shake the wolf loose before going inside.
